Description:

The Elkton Bridge once carried Highway US31 over the Elk River in Elkton, TN. The 692' long, 22' wide Warren through truss bridge with polygonal top chord was built in 1924 by Montgomery and Parker Co. In 1959 a new bridge was built parallel to it, and since then, the Elkton Historical Society has preserved it as a pedestrian bridge. Williams Restoration restored the bridge to its original wonder through removal and sterilization of vegetation, stabilization and repair of cracks, patching any low areas, divots or other blemishes in the asphalt surface, sandblasting of steel trusses, cleaning of all pavement surfaces, application of seal coat and sealants. The project also involved bituminous curb repair.
